Is the Family Culture really redundant?

The unrest at various manufacturing units always stings me, not because i am in support of the workers or the management, but because i feel sad the way companies and workers actually end up digging their own graves. This, when you have live examples of how workers and management can work 'together' for the benefit of both!

When TVS can have a strike free record in spite of being a $4 billion, 25000 people strong company, why can't others like Maruti and GM* follow suit?

To put the blame on politics and instigation is true to an extent, but what makes people fall prey to such politics has roots in what is called 'trust' and 'loyalty', something, which modern day managers say, is not in much vogue.

Is the 'family culture' really redundant in the era of  'opportunities'?

***Notes

I hope that the 100 year old 'strike free' tradition at TVS isn't broken and that the model succeeds wherever adopted :)

A quick glance through the below mentioned article will broaden your mindset for sure...

*GM, after the unrest, has been dolling out promotions to keep its employees happy.
