The economic mess of life

The PIGS countries and the USA seem to be the butt of all jokes these days with the internet being awash with videos illustrating how erroneous the economic policies of these two states been, and how others have been trapped in this rapidly collapsing vicious circle. The truth is that the joke is not on them but on us as we will suffer due to their actions!

However, the article is not about economics. It’s about life and how the consequences of the actions we do today start piling up and after crossing the tipping point, alter the course of our life against our will! And it all starts small…an embarrassment saving lie, to coughing up the extra bucks to get your DL without having to move an inch out of home and don’t forget the 100 bucks to the traffic police to save the day! In doing such little acts we end up getting complacent against the bad things. We don’t mind giving the LIU people 500 bucks to pass our passport, even when we have a clean record!! Anyways, let’s move ahead of corruption to the occasional lies we say to our friends, girlfriends, parents, teachers and everybody else… They don’t matter now; they don’t harm us significantly today… but they do make us complacent and we end up accepting lying as a way of life…we perceive it won’t do much harm as it never did in the past….. And as we grow, our ‘faulty’ deeds too increase in magnitude, and somewhere down the line, we end up at the point of no return; trapped in the rapidly collapsing circle.. a situation being faced by the A. Rajas and Ramalinga Rajus of our society….

The message I want to convey is that be it economics or life, the principles for survival and contentment are the same. Lies may help in the short run, but in the long run, the harsh reality will come knocking on your door. So, it’s up to you, whether you want to make all the wrong choices and end up being the butt of all jokes, or you want to live a life of peace and prosperity J The choice is yours J
